BEAM is a creative arts and culture venue situated in the heart of Hertford town centre. Located on the site of the previous Hertford Theatre, BEAM continues the legacy of bringing high quality entertainment and arts to the town. Offering first-release films, a new, flexible studio theatre, community facilities, including a Changing Place and a variety of public spaces to work, socialise or just relax in.

Access guidance
- Our bar area has order to table functionality, as well as pre-ordering functionality. The collection area for pre-orders is a dropped counter, with minimal queueing.
- Our entire site has step-free access throughout. There is step-free access from the main entrance to all Stages, Screens and Social Spaces, as well as our Bars and Toilets. We have dedicated viewing spaces for wheelchair users in our Stage and Screen spaces.
- BEAM is a large venue across two floors. Our Welcome Team are available to help disabled visitors navigate the venue when first arriving.
- There are public toilets available for disabled visitors. They are based in our foyer area. All toilets are compliant with current regulation. The accessible toilets have handrails. You do not require a RADAR key to gain entry. There is a Changing Places toilet. It is based in our foyer area. There is step-free access from the main entrance to the Changing Places. The Changing Places does not have a permanent attendant. For further information on transfer direction, dimensions, hoist weight, and mobility equipment, please get in touch.
- Assistant dogs are allowed in the venue. The nearest grassy area for assistant dogs to use is to the left of the venue.
- We have a complimentary ticket policy for essential companions for adults who require additional assistance on-site.
- We have contrast markings on all glass doors. Our glass windows do not have contrast markings. Some parts of the venue have low lighting. There is audio descriptive commentary in some shows and films. There are headsets if required for some shows and films. Some of our performances and screenings include captioning, audio-description, British Sign Language interpretation, relaxed shows and touch tours.
- Our fire alarm has flashing lights. We have a hearing loop in Stage One and Stage Two and have multiple subtitled films and captioned plays throughout the year.
