Access guidance
- We offer stools and benches around our gallery spaces as well as benches around our grounds. During busy events when queuing/standing might be an issue we would look to provide an alternative solutions such as nearby seating areas or allowing customers who need to, to come to the front of the queue to then allow them to continue their visit.
- We have lifts in our galleries allowing full access. Throughout the park there are footpaths which have either a tarmac or compacted gravel surface. There are a few inclines in places. We also have ramps as needed to access spaces where there is a step, for example our chapel. The shuttle to take people to the house is also wheelchair accessible.
- The distance from the Welcome centre to the house is 426m with the path 1.7m wide at its narrowest point. We run a shuttle than can take users from the Welcome centre to the main house, or can offer a service to drop off visitors at the house in their car depending on their circumstances.
- We have accessible toilets at the Welcome centre and main house, and for events can train staff on the access card and how to direct people to the nearest toilet for customers with this need.
- We have water bowls on arrival and at the house. We have grassed areas around the whole site.
- We would provide free entry to the carer(s), depending on how many were needed to support.
- We have large print guides in our galleries. We can also arrange in advance an audio guided tour if requested.
- There are fixed hearing loops in the Shop. Visitors can make use of this facility by switching their hearing aids to the 'T' position. A portable induction loop is also available, please ask a member of staff if you wish to use this facility. We welcome hearing dogs throughout the Gallery and Park. Hearing dogs in training are also welcome, please make sure that tabards or collar/lead tags are visible.
