Access guidance
- We rarely have a queue; however, if there is one while you are visiting, show your Hāpai Card, and staff will assist you by offering you a seat and placing you in the virtual queue. Seating is in our reception area where players can sit while they wait to begin their game.
- Unfortunately, the building is located on the second floor and does not have an elevator, making it unsuitable for wheelchair users.
- The building is not large, and there are plenty of seats available for you to use. Our accessible parking is right outside our front entrance.
- We have 1 accessible bathroom and 3 standard bathrooms. If you present this icon to us, we will ensure you are next to use the bathroom in a discreet way.
- We comply with NZ law regarding Disability Assistance Dogs, our staff will provide water for your dog and show you the nearest area for your dog to relieve itself.
- Free entry for a support person (+1) upon presentation of the Hāpai Access Card.
- The games require a fairly high level of sight to play, such as entering codes into padlocks and reading clues. It is best managed by having at least one player in the group with strong vision.
- Through the training that the staff have completed with the Hāpai Access Card, they are aware of how to modify their communication with you. This includes ensuring you can see their face when speaking, speaking clearly, using pen and paper, and being patient. The staff are also familiar with the NZ Relay service, so please feel free to use it if you think it's appropriate when making a call.
- Through staff training, our staff is generally aware of hidden disabilities. Please feel free to speak to them about how they can assist in making your time with us extraordinary.
