Harrow Arts Centre
Overview
Harrow Arts Centre (HAC) was built on the site of an old school and has been in existence since 1988. At the heart of the complex is the magnificent Elliott Hall, a Grade II listed auditorium which seats approximately 500 people. HAC also holds a studio theatre (The Boiler House), several meeting rooms, art rooms and two dedicated dance studios. These spaces are hired by over 350 individuals and organisations each year. We are committed to making sure everyone can enjoy our facilities as comfortably and equitably as possible.

Access guidance
- Doors to the Elliott Hall auditorium open 30 minutes before each event, and there may be a short queue before seating. For most events, the Backstage Bar opens 1 hour beforehand and offers seating if you prefer to wait away from the main crowd. If you need priority entry once doors open, please visit the Box Office on arrival and a member of the team can assist you. A seat can be made available in waiting areas where needed. There are seats in all hireable rooms except The Roxeth Studio and Greenhill Studio 4.
- We are happy to provide a quiet space for you to sit or wait. During our Christmas Pantomime run, we offer specified relaxed performances where a calming breakout space is available for use throughout the show.
- The main entrance to the HAC building, located opposite the Morrisons car park, is step free and wheelchair accessible through automatic doors. This can be reached from the main road or bus stops. There is also a ramp leading up to a side automatic entrance of the main building, closest to Disabled parking bays and main building lift. All buildings of 2+ floors are fitted with a lift. All outbuildings are ground level and step free. No steps are required to enter the Elliott Hall auditorium. Inside, stall rows A-O are all level and step free. A dedicated wheelchair accessible area is available for up to 5 wheelchair users plus companions, in rows N and O. The Box Office has a lowered counter to the right. For performers, a wheelchair ramp is available backstage to the Elliott Hall stage.
- The Harrow Arts Centre car park holds 90 vehicles and is free of charge. We have 7 accessible parking bays available, located down the side of our outbuildings and main building, approximately 10m or less from entrances. These are all available on a first come, first served basis. If you are travelling by public transport, the venue has it's own bus stops located a 1 minute walk from our main accessible entrance, serving the H12 and H14 buses. The nearest train station is Hatch End Overground, a 5 minute walk away. The Elliott Hall theatre is located in the centre of the main building, and can be accessed on either side. The Box Office and Gallery are located to the front entrance of the building, and the Backstage Bar towards the back entrance. All outbuildings are contained within the site and no further than 50m away from one another.
- Toilets are located at the end of each corridor in the ground floor of the main building. There are ladies, gents and a unisex accessible toilet on each side. An additional unisex accessible toilet is located upstairs next to the lift. The Greenhill Building contains two accessible toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs. There are additional ladies, gents and an accessible toilet next to the Hatch End Suites, and a toilet within the main Dance Studio. For performers, a large, private ensuite is located in our Headstone dressing room.
- Water can be provided for all assistance dogs, and guide dogs are welcome throughout the venue. Due to limited space in the Elliott Hall seating bays, we offer a designated access area where your guide dog can sit comfortably with you. These seats are subject to availability and can’t be booked online, so please contact us before booking and our friendly team will be happy to help. Alternatively, a member of the Front of House team can safely supervise your guide dog for the duration of the performance and bring them to you at any point.
- Cardholders displaying this symbol are entitled to one complimentary companion ticket. Please note that for some funded events such as our Learn Harrow activity programme, your companion may be required to register with our funders as a participant.
- We do not currently have information available in braille. We understand this is important and are working to improve this for our customers. If you would like information read aloud or need any assistance, please speak to a member of staff - we are more than happy to help.
- A hearing loop is fitted in the Elliott Hall auditorium. During our Christmas pantomime run, we host 2x BSL interpreted performances.
