Discovery Pool Our family discovery hot pools cater for everyone, we encourage that child at heart with our Aqua Play Zone including a "crazy river" & "leap of faith" plunge pool. You can also take refuge and explore our star lit caves, you never know what you'll find. Tranquility Pools 38.5° Arrive and be transported to your own oasis...simply step into our solar powered pools and let the stress soak away. Explore our network of interconnected pools, including our star lit caves and cold relief tub. Our tranquil escape pools offer an adult-exclusive experience, soak and unwind surrounded by superior views across the foothills of the Southern Alps. Indulge at the swim up bar, the Tranquility Bar & Eatery offers you an exclusive pool side canape and beverage service. All Tranquility Customers MUST BE 18 OR OVER and carry an acceptable form of ID such as: NZ Drivers License, Passport or Kiwi Access Card. ID will be checked upon arrival. Due to the Tranquility Pools being and R18 zone this area is not constantly supervised by lifeguards.

Access guidance
- It is not often that the queue at reception is long, but if you are concerend at the possible wait time, please make the staff aware of your presence and we can find seating options whilst you wait either in the cafe or we can bring our poolside wheelchair.
- Ōpuke Thermal Pools and Spa has been built with full wheelchair accessibility options. From the changing rooms to the pools there are facilities to make sure you have an enjoyable time. If you have questions at any point please ask one of the staff who will be happt to help. The video that is on this website shows the ramp access points to the Discovery and Tranquilty pools, plus the level access routes to various points in the complex. There is an aqua wheelchair available for use to help enter and exit the in the Discovery and Tranquility pools if required.
- Most distances within the complex are less than 50m and flat. There is easy wheelchair access throughout, and staff are very happy to help facilitate any navigation needs. If you need assistance at any point please let one of our staff or a lifeguards know. We are happy to assist customers from poolside or change rooms into pools where required. We can offer you a wheelchair to use while at the pools and can push you to the changing rooms. There is an aqua wheel chair available for ease of access into and out of the pools.
- There are a large number of toilets available throughout the complex. Most are located in the changing area, but there are two standard toilets available next to the outside lockers in the Discovery Pools.
- We welcome NZ Government registered assistance dogs into the facility, but not other types. If you are going to use the pools regularly we are happy to facilitate a building familiarisation session. Our staff are happy to assist with directing you through the facility and showing you the rest area for your assistance dog. Please ask for assistance from any of the lifeguards. We can provide a drinking bowl and there are places around the outside of the building where the dog can relieve itself.
- Where you need a support person to enjoy your time at Ōpuke Thermal Pools and Spa we are happy to provide that person complimentary entry so that they can provide support. The pool side staff are available to assist, but it is assumed that they will only provide temporary assistance, as they must be able to supervise the pools. This means that your carer must remain with you at all times.
- If you are going to use the pools regularly we can facilitate a building familiarisation session. We can offer assistance and guidance to the changing areas, to the poolside and entry into pools as well as explaining surroundings and notifying other users if you ask us.
- The Ōpuke Thermal Pools and Spa staff are very happy to take the time to make sure that you have the information that you need to enjoy your time with us. Please let the pool side staff know that you have this barrier so they know to communicate with you appropriately if they need to issue any instructions. The locker system has visual and audio instructions, if you have any problems don't hesitate to ask for assistance from a staff member.
