Makers and sellers of the Original York Ghosts. Each Ghost is handmade in York by our team of makers and are avialable for sale in our remarkable shop on an extraordinary street. Our creations combine the best of British materials with the sagacity and resource of generations of Guild craftsmen and women. Every ghost is unique, "with a spirit all its own".

Access Card notes
We offer pre-booked appointments for Access Card holders at our Shambles shop only. We will take some details when you make your booking which will hopefully help us in making your visit more enjoyable. If you are unable to book an appointment in advance you are more than welcome to join the main queue but please let one of our Merchants know should you need any assistance as you enter the shop.

- At busy periods (particularly at weekends and school holidays) queues for the shop have been known to be as long as 3 hours. While our Merchants are on hand to look after you, we appreciate some visitors with physical impairments may struggle to stand for such a prolonged period of time. Please also bear in mind that The Shambles is very narrow, and the street can become quite congested and noisy during busy periods which may present issues for some of our guests. With all this in mind we would encourage you to try and book an access appointment which will allow you speedier entry to the shop without the need to queue. There is no public seating available on the Shambles so if you are unable to secure a pre-booked appointment you may wish to visit The Dispensary at St Anthonys Garden. The gardens are much quieter and queue times are generally much shorter. Please note we do not offer pre booked appointments at the Dispensary so guests may need to wait to be admitted.
- We have a small ramp available which ensures most wheelchair users are able to enter the shop, and although the shop itself is very small we will always do our very best to help with any requirements. The Shambles itself is a rather narrow cobbled medieval street and although it poses slight challenges, is also navigable by wheelchair. If you are a wheelchair user you may have a more comfortable experience by booking an access appointment. This will allow you speedier entry to the shop without the need to queue. If you are unable to secure a pre-booked appointment you may wish to visit The Dispensary at St Anthonys Garden. The Dispensary is a smaller shop but has a wider entrance and more space around the queue with flatter, paving, sloping access and no steps or cobbles. Please note we do not offer pre booked appointments at the Dispensary so guests may need to wait to be admitted.
- At its maximum the queue for our shop is no more than 50 metres in length. Nearest on-street parking for blue badge holders: 200m Nearest multi storey car park (QPark – Shambles): 400m Nearest bus stops (Stonebow): 200m Nearest railway station: Approx 1km
- Unfortunately we do not have any suitable facilities available for customer use at this time. The closest public conveniences are located on Silver Street (100 metres away). These facilities are also wheelchair accessible.
- Assistance dogs are always welcome. Please be aware it is possible there may be other dogs in the building when you visit.
- We understand some people find it difficult to access certain services without support from others. If you need support in excess of what could be reasonably expected of family / friends already accompanying you, please let us know when making your booking.
- There is little visual information on display in our shop, but should you need any assistance please do not hesitate to speak to one our Merchants who are always on hand to assist.
- When welcoming you into the shop our Merchants will greet you with some history and information about the Ghost Merchants. For anyone with hearing difficulties we hope to be able to provide a printed version of this information in the near future.
