Nimbus Disability, a leading UK-based social enterprise dedicated to improving accessibility for disabled people and their families, is proud to announce it has been Highly Commended in the Impact in Social Enterprise Award category at the recent PwC Building Trust Awards.
The Impact in Social Enterprise Award, held in partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), celebrates UK social enterprises that demonstrate excellence in measuring, managing, and reporting on their social and environmental contributions. Nimbus Disability was recognised for its outstanding commitment to transparency and the demonstrable positive change it creates within the disabled community.
Securing the Highly Commended status acknowledges Nimbus Disability’s rigorous approach to impact reporting, showcasing both qualitative and quantitative evidence of its achievements. The commendation places Nimbus among the top social enterprises in the UK for proving and communicating their vital role in society.
Martin Austin MBE, Managing Director of Nimbus Disability said; "To be Highly Commended in the PwC Building Trust Awards is a tremendous honor and powerful validation of our mission. This recognition isn't just about an award; it's confirmation that the impact we report is trusted and that our core focus—empowering disabled people through accessibility solutions—is making a measurable difference. We are deeply grateful to PwC and the School for Social Entrepreneurs for highlighting the critical work being done across the social enterprise sector."
Nimbus Disability is best known for developing the Access Card, a nationally recognised proof of disability that translates complex medical information and supporting documents into discrete symbols, indicating an individual’s access requirements. This innovative tool removes the need for disabled customers to repeatedly disclose sensitive information, improving access and fostering trust with venues and businesses across the UK.
The Highly Commended status also includes a financial contribution, which Nimbus Disability plans to reinvest directly into enhancing its services and expanding its reach, ensuring greater accessibility for more disabled individuals nationwide.
