August 2021: A Recap of Events

It’s been another 31 days of great progress for the Access Card

As we approach the end of Summer 2021 it’s time to look back at the great month the Access Card had for August 2021.

From recruiting new providers to launching our video as part of the WeThe15 campaign, the Access Card Team was well and truly been kept on its toes and made more great progress during August 2021.

Nimbus Disability gets shortlisted for Social Enterprise Award for Access Card Scheme

Nimbus Disability has been shortlisted in the UK Social Enterprise Award, recognising it as one of the leading social enterprises in the country.

Nimbus Disability, based in Derby with a global reach, is a finalist in the ‘Tech for Good: Technology Social Enterprise’ category. It is a business that is one of the country’s leading providers of disability-related advice and support to professional organisations. In the last year, Nimbus Disability has seen a large influx in the number of venues & attractions signing up to their Access Card Scheme. The scheme now has over twelve hundred providers and over thirty-five thousand Access Card Holders.

#WeThe15 – Derby Wheelblazers

The Access Card contributes to many different foundations & projects, including Derby Wheelblazers. 

Sponsored by the Access Card, the team competes at a national level and is coached by the creator and Managing Director of the Access Card, Martin Austin MBE. The Access Card’s Senior Decision-Making Team Lead, Greg Johnson, is also a member of the team and has been for many years.

WeThe15 is a global campaign focused on improving the lives of over 1 billion disabled people across the globe. Through increased awareness & education, supporting businesses & organisations strive to end discrimination and improve access to facilities and opportunities for disabled people.
