QUAD Integrates Access Card

QUAD in Derby becomes the first organisation to integrate the Access Card into their booking process for disabled visitors.

QUAD provides a range of cinema and arts based facilities and also includes a great little cafe in the City Centre. Facilities and services for disabled guests have always been a priority for the CredAble organisation:

“Our main aim at QUAD has always been to make art and film accessible to all and we are always looking for ways to create these opportunities for all of our visitors. We are really proud to be a CredAble provider and really excited to be part of launching the Access card scheme in Derby. Working together with other organisations in the city and with the support of CredAbility will enable us to provide a broad, honest and transparent approach to accessibility and ensure that all visitors feel welcome to enjoy the great facilities we have on offer here at QUAD.”

Becky Caffrey, Acting Head of Visitor Services.

The Access Card will now entitle all Card Holders to a discounted ticket for all cinema screenings, and, for those who require the support of another person to access the cinema, a free ticket for a guest to provide the customer with support in accessing a screening can be booked by visiting QUAD. Card Holders should also look out for other opportunities and CredAble Organisations in the City and beyond.

QUAD may be the first but expect to see more soon. A working group in Derby has come together to work on a consistent approach across a number of organisations. Derby Theatre, DeDA, Derby Live,  Derby Museums and Derby Tourist Information are all working together on utilising the Access Card.

Martin Austin, Managing Director of Nimbus Disability Consultancy and creator of the Access Card was involved in a Question Panel with leaders in the Ticketing Industry last week discussing the integration of the Access Card at a much more national level such as accessing tickets and access to live music events and the theatre.

“When we first developed the Card it was with intention of simplifying things for disabled people. There are so many different schemes and ways of evidencing disability at the moment that its not just confusing for customers – its confusing for providers too.”
