The Royal Air Tattoo, takes to the skies with the Access Card

Few events can rival the intensity, drama and spectacle on offer at the world’s greatest airshow.

The Air Tattoo, one of the UK’s premier outdoor events, returns next summer on 13-15 July hosted at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire the prestigious event will be marking a very special occasion in 2018, the centenary of the Royal Air Force. As well as commemorating past achievements, the event will also be celebrating the present and helping to inspire the future of the RAF.

The Air Tattoo also hosts a large outdoor concert, featuring classical music that both stimulates and excites crowds when the planes fly overhead Join the Bands of the Royal Air Force as they take to the stage to perform a range of pieces that will uplift, inspire and entertain.

RAF100 at the Air Tattoo will be a full three day event, with over 7 hours of amazing flying on all three days. Friday will be a day not to miss, featuring a Royal Review of aircraft, a 7hr+ flying display and dramatic flypasts to celebrate the Centenary.  Due to the nature of this event, flying participants may be different on each day.


The Air Tattoo is staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, a charity set up in 2005 to support the wider RAF family.

As well as seeking to develop a spirit of air-mindedness in youngsters, it also aims to promote excellence with the Royal Air Force.

Not only is the Air Tattoo a great day out, the event serves in supporting a wide range of projects and initiatives benefitting RAF serving personnel, young people and veterans.

In 2017, 246 aircraft from 32 air arms in 26 countries participated with 63 Official Military Delegations also in attendance. On Sunday 16, visitors were treated to a surprise flypast by a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, escorted by two F-15 fighters.

Returning aircraft participation includes the Royal Canadian Air Force who have already confirmed they will be sending their CF18 Hornet Display, last seen at the air show in 2008, and the event are lining up even more breathtaking aircraft for displays and static views in 2018.
