Access guidance
- We encourage our visitors to either contact us in advance of their visit or speak to a member of staff on arrival, if they experience difficulty with standing or queueing. Where possible, we will assist customers to the front of long queues, or we will ensure they have access to a chair whilst they wait. We can also offer early access into the auditorium on agreement with the production staff and to ensure they can find their seats comfortably and in a relaxed manner.
- There is seating available within the foyer and bar area to use whilst waiting for doors to open. If you require any assistance please ask a member of the Front of House team, or contact us ahead of your visit to make arrangements.
- Please speak with a member of staff on arrival who will assist you to a quieter area and sort out priority entry for you as soon as the doors open.
- The venue has level access, lifts and adapted toilets. For seated events the venue has up to twelve wheelchair spaces available. They are located on ground level, either on the back row of the stalls or front row of the circle. There is lift access to all levels of the venue. On standing events the venue has a viewing platform with a ramp for up to 6 wheelchair users or disabled customers.
- We have an accessible drop off point for cars at the side of the venue. Its about 20m from the front doors. Distances from public transport can be found on our website, https://grimsbyauditorium.org.uk/your-visit/access/ Within the venue, all facilities are within a short distance of one another. If you require additional support whilst visiting the venue, please speak with a member of staff.
- The Auditorium has male and female toilet facilities on the ground floor of the venue in the foyer. There are also two separate, fully accessible facilities, one on the ground and the other on the first floor.
- Assistance Dogs are welcome in all parts of the venue. If you wish to bring your assistance dog, please advise the Box Office when booking your tickets or by emailing grimsbyboxoffice@lincsinspire.com. For the welfare of the dogs, other customers and to maintain safe venue evacuation routes, dogs are only allowed within our designated seating areas.
- Where patrons with disabilities need a personal assistant to attend an event with them, the combined cost will be equivalent to the full cost of one ticket. To help us better understand your needs, we are working with Nimbus Disability, to make ticketing and access to Grimsby Auditorium more inclusive for customers with accessibility requirements. Nimbus' experience in running the Access Card scheme will enable us to ensure that even more people are able to book access tickets at our venues, and that the right tickets are sold to those who are eligible.
- We can provide PDF versions of touring show programmes on request, which can then be printed in large print. We have large print bar menus available. We also have a visual story which can be provided when visiting the Grimsby Auditorium.
- The venue is equipped with the Sennheiser MobileConnect Assistive Listening System. QR codes to access this are available at the box office. We also offer an infra-red sound amplification system to relay sound to customers with hearing impairments. Induction loop necklaces are available, free of charge from the Box Office.
- The venue guide or ‘social story’ is available. The social story is a visual resource for those visiting the theatre and is intended to help prepare visitors for a new experience and to become familiar with the surroundings. Customers and their companions are welcome to visit the Venue prior to attending a performance to familiarise themselves with the venues layout. These visits can be arranged through our Box Office. Many shows which take place at our venue do contain some form of flashing lights. Some also contain strobe or other special effects, including pyrotechnics. We will always endeavour to find out from a touring production in advance, if their show contains such effects, but we do not always obtain these details in advance. If you have any concerns about an upcoming event, please contact us, call or visit the Baths Hall Box Office, and we will do our best to find out further information from the production team.
