Chetham's School of Music

Overview
The thriving creative community at Chetham's involves around 300 students aged 8-18, whose common passion is music. Entry to the School is based solely on musical ability or potential, never on background or ability to pay, thanks to generous bursaries through the Government's Music and Dance Scheme. This common bond of musical passion makes for a truly inspirational place which transforms the lives of all who are part of it. Public events include daily free Lunchtime Concerts, regular concerts by the School's ensembles, including choirs, orchestras and Big Bands, and public masterclasses with some of the leading artists from across the music world. Many events are free of charge for students and under 18s, spreading the School's commitment to musical education beyond its classrooms.

Access from disabled parking spaces at NCP Manchester Arena is by lift through Victoria Station. The bar in the Oglesby Atrium has a low level counter position. If you are attending events in the Baronial Hall and Chetham's medieval buildings, please be aware that these spaces were built in 1421 and are accessed via cobbles, with limited facilities for disabled visitors. Please contact us if you require any guidance.

Larger, mixed gender cubicles are available on the ground floor (Atrium level) and mezzanine level (up one flight of stairs). These are available to the general public but may be particularly convenient for families with young children, or for customers who prefer not to use gendered facilities.
